BLUE BYRD TATTOO

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the house the Byrd Built. In 1998 David M. Klaiber used his nick-name “Byrd” to name custom tattoo machines that were “Blued” to treat the iron of the machines, ultimately combining the words to become “Blue Byrd” and eventually opened Blur Byrd Tattoo.  

 

In the summer of 1999 Blue Byrd Tattoo established a brick and mortar location on Brown st. registering with the city of Dayton, Montgomery County and with the state of Ohio for business, tax and health department licensing. 

 

From day one, Dayton and surrounding areas received Blue Byrd so well that with encouragement from friends/fellow artist and clients a second location was established in Middletown Ohio in 2000 just a year after our grand opening in Dayton.  In 2014 we decided to shift focus more on our Dayton studio and ceased any operations in Middletown and have zero affiliation with any studios in the area.

 

Shortly after opening the second location, with the growth of clients and staff, a third location was established in 2003 on the border of Miamisburg and Centerville Ohio across from the Dayton Mall. It was a busy time and the Brown St. shop was the place to be during and after hours. All of our shops were a place for new friends to meet, art and trade skills to be shared and ridiculous antics played out!  As of January 1st, 2026 we have decided to relocate our Miamisburg studio in its entirety back to our home base in Dayton.

 

Times change and business grow and grow up.  

 

Which brings us to the party on Wayne!

 

In 2007 Blue Byrd Tattoo purchased our new and landmark location for the growth and stability of our studio. Three times larger than our originally rented old Brown st. studio, as well as the location across from the Dayton mall and four times larger than the little rental in Middletown, it was a significant investment for our studio. Purchasing 1231 Wayne Avenue set our company as a permanent Dayton fixture the summer of 2007.  Our studio has a large and relaxing environment where our artists are all customer orientated so from your idea to any or inspiration you may have,  we are ready to exceed your expectations of design, finished product and a positive friendly visit.
